High-intensity activity 2 hours before sleep

Exercise before sleep may make it harder to fall asleep as it can increase alertness, stimulate hormones like cortisol (our stress hormone, which needs to reduce at night), and raise core body temperature, all of which can interfere with the body's natural process of winding down for sleep.

Do

  • Take a warm bath or shower to soothe sore muscles and promote relaxation.
  • Practice deep breathing exercises to slow the heart rate and calm the mind.
  • Stretch or do some gentle yoga poses to release tension in the muscles.
  • Listen to calming music or a guided meditation to help you unwind on the app’s Explore Section.
  • Drink a cup of herbal tea, such as chamomile, known for its relaxing properties.
  • Dim the lights or use candlelight to create a calming atmosphere.
  • Use a foam roller or massage ball to help relieve tightness and soreness in the muscles.
  • Spend time with loved ones or engage in a hobby that brings joy and relaxation, such as reading or painting.
  • Avoid electronic devices, especially those that emit blue light, as they may disrupt sleep patterns and hinder relaxation.
